By being enrolled in our medical plan, you have access to clinical breast exams and mammograms, as a preventive screening. If you are under the age of 40 years, you may need a referral from your doctor, however women 40 years and older should not need a referral.
Mammograms can be performed at a few different settings like a hospital or imaging center. A mobile mammography unit might also be available in your area. Reaching out to the breast center or women’s health center may be the best place to call when trying to schedule through a hospital. Also, keep in mind that if you are not covered on our medical plan, there are options for those that qualify to receive a free or discounted services through the National Mammography Program.
